OBITUARY:
James M. Morris, a Well Known Pioneer of This State, Joins Majority.
James M. Morris, who was born October 5, 1824 in North Carolina, died December 13, 1904, at the home of his son, Oscar Morris, near Turner, this county. When Mr. Morris was ten years of age he moved with his father’s family to Iowa. He was married to Catalina Cornelius in 1843, and two years later, in 1845, came to Oregon where he had lived since. He was an Indian War veteran. He leaves four sons, David M. Morris, Oscar I. Morris, George L. Morris, of Turner, and Chas. H. Morris, of The Dalles, Ore. The remains will be buried at the Cornelius cemetery, near Turner, today (Thursday), at 10 a.m. from the home of Oscar Morris. Rev. Mr. Crandall, of Turner, will conduct the ceremony.
Mr. Morris was a hale man up to a very few days since, but his death was caused by the bursting of an artery in the stomach, presumably the result of a long walk on Sunday.
