1930 OR CENSUS - Shallum Hurd, age 27, married at age 23, occupation machinist, b. Oregon, is enumerated with wife Milly, age 31, married at age 17, b. Indiana, along with Jack A., age 13, b. Washington, Nora A., age 11, b. Oregon, and Eleanor, age 7, b. California.
OBITUARY: 
Sheridan—Shallum Nelson Hurd, 63, Sheridan Rt. 1, died Friday at a McMinnville hospital. He had been in failing health.
Born in Scottsburg, Hurd was married to Milly O. Slyter in Eugene in 1926, and for many years worked as a railroad machinist.
He had farmed the past 12 years in the Sheridan area.
Survivors include the widow; daughters Mrs. Nora McDowell, Arcata, Calif., and Mrs. Eleanor Bivens, Springfield; brothers Cecil M. Hurd, Klamath Falls, and Lawrence Hurd in California; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Friends Church, Marion, followed by interment in Marion Cemetery. Adamson Mortuary, Sheridan, is handling arrangements.
