Slyters to Celebrate 50 Years
WOODBURN—Mr. and Mrs. George T. Slyter will be honored at a reception in observance of their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 2 at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Plumb, 890 Marion St., Woodburn.
The 50th anniversary party will be given by their two daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stevens of Aberdeen, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Plumb.
Mr. and Mrs. Slyter, who were married on July 4, 1922 at Marion, Ore., have eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Slyter retired in 1971 after 22 years as owner of the Woodburn Shoe Service.

OBITUARY: 
WOODBURN—George T. Slyter, 84, of 2103 Country Club Road, died Tuesday.
Born in Etna Green, Ind., he moved here from Carlton in 1948. He operated a shoe repair service, and was a member of the United Methodist Church and the IOOF.
He is survived by his daughters, Rose M. Plumb, Woodburn, and Blanchie Stevens, Aberdeen, Wash.; and sisters, Ina King, Salem, and Millie Hurd, Springfield.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cornwell mortuary, and interment in Marion Friends Cemetery, Marion.
